DESCRIPTION: Caused by a mite these felt galls are cream or white at first and later become brown (be careful as purple forms are often found). The erineum which is where the mites feed is found on the lower surface and can be located by the obvious yellowish bulge on the upper surface. The mites leave the galls in autumn and overwinter in bark crevices throughout the winter. DISTRIBUTION: Very common. HABITAT: On leaves of Sycamore. |
